... was baptised 18 April 1841 at North Newbald. IGI does not record a middle name.
He died 04 June 1860 and was buried at Bishop Burton, though his death is not recorded in East Yorkshire Monumental Inscriptions.


3. James Botterill CROMPTON...
...was baptised 03 November 1844 St. Stephen's Church, Acomb, York.
IGI does not record a middle name. However his Aunt Martha, born 1817, married a James Botterill LOWTHER.

The 1861 census shows James Botterill still living in Bridlington apprenticed, at the age of 17, to a grocer.

There is no further evidence of James Botterill in the census. However, the GRO clearly records the death of one James Botterill CROMPTON, in Newark Nottingham.

Having been an apprentice grocer James Boterrill died a cellarman, following in his father' s one-time trade as a publican. There is no known reason for his move to Newark. There is no GRO evidence of his marriage.
