Crumpton is an East Riding dialect pronunciation of Crompton.

Elisabeth CRUMPTON married Thomas SKELTON on 19 March 1771. Their son, called Crumpton, was born Filey in 1772, and was a publican of the Pack Horse in Filey.

He married Sarah JENNINGS at St John's Beverley on 26 September 1798. Sarah SKELTON, their daughter, was born 01 April 1810 in Filey and she married Henry STOREY, a rope maker, in Filey on 01 August 1835.

They had three children, all born in Filey:

It is interesting to note, again, how the name changes between Crumpton and Crompton.
