Charles Henry CROMPTON

Family hearsay mentioned two of John Harper's children moving to and living in Leeds. Harper CROMPTON moved during World War II to work in aircraft related industries and died there in 1983. Charles Henry was the second.

On 22 July 1939 Charles Henry married Frances SHAW, who was 'a maker of fancy leather goods' perhaps working in the same location as her 'boot repairer' father.

It is interesting to note that Charles Henry was a Draughtsman (Cranes) and possibly living away from home. He too married from 113 Knott Lane, the home of his maiden aunts. His father Wyril (Whyrill), recently deceased, is now described as a 'master builder'.

Frances was born in the fourth quarter of 1915. Her mother was a SHARMAN. Frances Shaw's GRO birth - 2kB gif

At the time of her wedding the Shaw family lived at 86 Mottram Road, Hyde. Whilst there is a post code for 84 Mottram Road, 86 is missing. It appears that 86 has become part of a larger white roofed building and car park, at the corner of Boston Street.

Together they had three sons, all born in Hyde:

Charles R, known as Roger in the second quarter of 1944; Charles Roger Crompton's GRO birth - 2kB gif
Kenneth H, born in the fourth quarter of 1945. Kenneth Crompton's GRO birth - 2kB gif

Both Charles Henry and Frances died in Leeds. Charles Henry in June1990 (GRO ref: Leeds 5 276) and Frances in November 1998 (GRO ref: Leeds M10C& 0921M 226).
