On 22 December 1945, at the age of 38, 36387 Leading Wren Nellie CROMPTON married Petty Officer, Storekeeper Alec SHAW of 'Silverdale', Cleethorpes Road, Sholing, Southampton.

It is interesting to note that Nellie married from 113 Knott Lane, Hyde, the home of her unmarried sisters.

Alec SHAW, born in the fourth quarter of 1920, was a native of Stockport.

He was married from Sholing, Southampton and, perhaps because of their wartime experiences, they returned to Southampton, where their two sons were born.

Derek's GRO birth entry records his birth on the Isle of Wight, which is in the Registration District of Southampton.

He was married in the third quarter of 1972 to Gay WHIFFEN in Romsey, north of Southampton
