Jemima died in the first quarter of 1892 (GRO ref: Driffield 9d 224) and John in the fourth quarter of 1905 (GRO ref: Driffield 9d 202).
Emma JEFFERSON
Emma was born in February 1873 (GRO ref: Driffield 9d 303). She was accidentally killed by her father in the first quarter of 1880 (GRO ref: Driffield 9d 222).
| Driffield Times | ||
| Saturday January 24, 1880 | ||
| As Mr John JEFFERSON, farmer, Ruston Parva, was fitting a cap onto his gun, it accidentally discharged and the shot hit his youngest daughter, Emma, aged 6 years and 11 months, just as the child was stepping from the staircase. | She was hit in the thigh, making an entry wound about the size of a walnut and where it came out; the exit wound was the size of a florin. The bone, nerves and blood vessels were entirely destroyed and the child died later that night. | |
